Diana Nakawombe is a seasoned non-profit management professional with over 14 years of experience leading community development initiatives across Uganda and internationally. She currently serves as the Manager of Katosi Integrated Development Alliance (KIDA), where she oversees strategic planning, program management, financial oversight, staff supervision, and stakeholder engagement. In this role, Diana ensures that programs are impactful, sustainable, and aligned with KIDA’s mission to empower communities. In addition, she lends her expertise to the 90-Day North American Resettlement Program, providing operational leadership and financial literacy training to support resettlement initiatives.

Diana’s professional foundation combines legal and nonprofit expertise. She earned her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Uganda Christian University in 2019 and is pursuing a Master’s in Nonprofit Management at Regis University in Colorado. Her early legal experience, including her tenure as a Legal Intern at Bwire and Waiswa Co Advocates, strengthened her understanding of governance, compliance, and organizational strategy—skills she has seamlessly integrated into her nonprofit leadership. She has also held key leadership roles as a District Coordinator with Arise Integrated Development Effort (AIDE), where she enhanced community engagement and ensured that programs addressed local needs effectively.

Beyond her professional work, Diana is deeply committed to volunteerism and community service. She actively contributes to organizations such as UG Kids Canada and the United Ugandans Community of Colorado, supporting initiatives in arts, culture, and economic empowerment. In her personal life, she enjoys hiking, dining, reading, and music, and she embraces opportunities to create meaningful impact in her community. Diana’s dedication, combined with her expertise and educational accomplishments, reflects a lifelong commitment to sustainable development and philanthropy that uplifts communities and drives positive change.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to discipline, integrity, and a strong work ethic, along with the determination to never give up. I make it a point to learn from others by seeking advice and asking thoughtful questions from those with experience in the field. Continuously learning and staying curious have been key drivers in my growth and achievements.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to focus on the impact you can make. Approach your work as a calling, not just a job, and ensure that you are truly passionate about what you do. Let your motivation come from a desire to serve the community and make a meaningful difference through your work.
