Her Story
About Diana
I currently serve as Executive Vice President for People Organization and Corporate Social Responsibility at PriceMart, a position I've held for the past 5 years. Throughout my 50-year career in the retail industry, I have developed deep expertise in leading cultural transformations and people engagement to improve business strategy. As a certified mindfulness meditation teacher, I integrate these practices into my work at the company. I am passionate about including all voices and believe that success is not what you achieve alone, but what you achieve together with your teams, peers, and colleagues. I consider myself a learner who recognizes that there is tremendous knowledge in people - you just need to be quiet and learn. My approach is rooted in being respectful, people-oriented, and maintaining our company's beautiful culture as we continue to grow.

Ten minutes with Diana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being a genuine person and an open book. I believe the secret is to include all voices and respect what the other human being in front of you needs to say. Success is not what you achieve alone, it's what you achieve together with your teams, with your peers, with your colleagues. For that, you need to be very respectful and very people-oriented. I am a learner, and I think there is a lot of knowledge in people. It's just that you need to be quiet and learn.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was from one of my mentors who told me that you don't need to prove yourself. You just need to do your job the best you can with all your heart. It's not a competition, and you shouldn't leave bodies in your road. Instead, trust yourself, be optimistic, and be at service, which is very important to me.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think the most important thing is to believe in herself and be confident that you can do it, that you can do whatever you want. So, I think believe. And they used to say fake it until you make it, but I think it's fake it until you become.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is how to maintain our culture, which is very beautiful, as we grow. How do we maintain our core and our soul as we grow? That's one of the biggest challenges. As for opportunities, I would say it's how to develop better leaders that are prepared for what is coming ahead in the world, considering all of the factors we have, including the geopolitical situations all over the world. How do we equip them to be better human beings in general, so that they can be better leaders as a result?
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are transparency, inclusion of all voices, integrity, kindness, and honesty. I believe in being transparent in what I think, and I think it's essential to include all voices in everything we do.
