Her Story
About Diana
Diana Perez serves as Executive Assistant for the City of Avon Park in Florida. With about six years in government, she started as a utility and public works administrative assistant and advanced to her current role where she handles scheduling, project management, and daily operations for the city manager, allowing leadership to focus on broader initiatives. She is the only female in her department and acts as the right-hand person to the director. Diana graduated with an associate's degree in Business Administration and Management from Polk State College in 2024 and expects to complete her bachelor's degree in the same field in spring 2027, with plans to pursue further studies possibly in public administration. She is in the process of obtaining her water distribution license and maintains memberships in FWPCOA, FRWA, and Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Her passion for utilities stems from understanding the infrastructure behind everyday services like running water. Diana advises young women entering male-dominated fields not to get discouraged, to do the thing they think they cannot do, and to work hard to accomplish their goals.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't get discouraged, especially in male-dominated fields. You must do the thing you think you cannot do. Put your all into it and anyone can accomplish what you put your heart to. If you work hard at anything, you can make it happen.
