Ten minutes with Diana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, hard work, and a commitment to continuous learning. Throughout my career, I have never been afraid to take on challenges, learn from setbacks, and remain focused on finding solutions. My faith in God has given me strength during difficult times and the confidence to pursue opportunities that once seemed out of reach.
I am also grateful for the mentors, colleagues, clients, and teams who have trusted me and contributed to my growth along the way. Success is rarely achieved alone. It comes from building strong relationships, maintaining integrity, and treating people with respect.
Most importantly, I believe success comes from serving others. Whether helping a food manufacturer achieve compliance, supporting a new facility startup, or mentoring someone entering the industry, I strive to make a positive impact. By staying dedicated to excellence, remaining resilient through challenges, and being grateful for the opportunities this country provides, I have been able to build a career and business that I am truly proud of.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of career advice I have ever received was to never stop learning and never become complacent. Industries evolve, regulations change, and new challenges emerge every day. The professionals who continue to grow, seek knowledge, and adapt are the ones who create lasting success.
I was also taught not to let self-doubt limit my potential. There will be times when you are invited into rooms, meetings, or opportunities that feel beyond your experience level. Instead of questioning whether you belong there, trust that your preparation, work ethic, and expertise earned you a seat at the table. Have the confidence to contribute, ask questions, and continue learning.
Another valuable lesson was that your reputation is one of your most important assets. Skills and experience can open doors, but integrity, reliability, and professionalism are what sustain a successful career. People may forget what you said, but they will remember whether you kept your word, delivered results, and treated others with respect.
These lessons have guided my career and continue to shape the way I approach leadership, business, and personal growth today.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is never to stop learning. Pursue certifications, seek out new experiences, and embrace challenging projects because every obstacle you overcome prepares you for the next opportunity. The knowledge and skills you gain along the way will become some of your greatest assets.
I would also encourage them never to use their race, gender, or background as an excuse for why they cannot succeed. We all can achieve our goals if we are willing to put in the work, remain determined, and stay focused on continuous improvement. Success comes from preparation, perseverance, and a strong work ethic.
Don't be afraid to sit at tables where you may feel unqualified or out of place. If you've been invited into the room, it's because someone saw value in what you bring, and I believe God placed you there for a reason. Trust your abilities, speak with confidence, and remember that your knowledge, integrity, and dedication will ultimately speak for themselves.
Most importantly, stay humble, remain teachable, and never underestimate what can be accomplished through faith, hard work, and persistence. The opportunities are there for those who are willing to pursue them.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is client retention in an increasingly competitive market. As companies grow, many choose to hire in-house Quality Assurance or Compliance Managers. While that can be beneficial, organizations sometimes discover they hired someone who lacks the experience or expertise needed to navigate the complexities of food manufacturing compliance, which often leads them back to seeking outside support.
Another challenge is the ongoing shift of food manufacturing operations outside of California. As a result, I am focused on expanding my business into other states to better serve clients where they are growing. This presents a tremendous opportunity for Consulting Compliance LLC, including planned projects and expansion efforts in markets such as Atlanta and other regions experiencing growth in food manufacturing.
Perhaps the most significant challenge is finding qualified professionals with specialized food industry experience. Food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance require a unique skill set, and there is a shortage of individuals who can immediately step into these roles with minimal training. At the same time, this challenge creates an opportunity to mentor and develop the next generation of food industry professionals.
Despite these challenges, I see tremendous opportunities ahead. As regulatory requirements continue to evolve and consumers demand greater transparency, food manufacturers need experienced compliance professionals more than ever. Companies are increasingly recognizing the value of strong food safety systems, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence, which continues to drive demand for the services and expertise my firm provides.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, integrity, honesty, accountability, and service to others. My faith in God serves as the foundation for the decisions I make and reminds me to approach every situation with humility, gratitude, and purpose.
Integrity is especially important to me because trust is earned through consistency and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. In the food manufacturing industry, people rely on my expertise and judgment, so I believe in being honest, transparent, and accountable in everything I do.
I also value hard work and perseverance. Success does not happen overnight, and I believe that challenges are opportunities to learn, grow, and become stronger. Whether in business or in life, I try to remain committed to continuous improvement and never stop learning.
Finally, I believe in giving back and helping others succeed. Whether it is mentoring someone entering the industry, supporting a client, or serving my community, I find fulfillment in making a positive difference. At the end of the day, I want my work and my life to reflect strong character, meaningful service, and a commitment to leaving things better than I found them.
