Her Story
About Diana
I studied fashion merchandising and began my career in retail management, working both in-store and regionally for several brands on the East Coast, where I grew up. About nine years ago, I moved to Los Angeles and transitioned into corporate roles, working as a buyer for multiple brands and gaining experience in fulfillment and operations.
My path eventually led me to Body Glove, where I started as a marketing assistant supporting photo shoots, social media, and broader brand initiatives. As I became more involved in the business, I naturally moved into brand management, leveraging the experience I’d built across merchandising, marketing, and retail. I’ve now been with the company for about five years and have served as Senior Brand Manager for a little over two and a half.
In my current role at Marquee Brands, I focus heavily on product and oversee our partners across product development, creative, and marketing. Between Body Glove and Dakine, I manage around 40 partners globally. Because both brands operate on a licensing model, I’m involved in everything from product approvals and brand representation to ensuring consistency across retail, packaging, and trade show presence.
Fashion has been a passion of mine since I was young—I’ve always loved shopping, trends, and creativity. Studying it in college only deepened that passion. Throughout my career, I've made it a priority to pursue roles that genuinely excite me, and that mindset has guided my path to where I am today.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I think the best career advice is to pursue work that genuinely excites you. When you’re passionate about what you do, showing up every day with energy and enthusiasm comes naturally. We spend so much of our time and effort on our careers, and it’s easy to overlook how much that truly shapes our lives. That’s why choosing a path you love—and that motivates you—is incredibly important. Passion not only fuels your work, it sustains you through the challenges and helps you grow.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I’ve learned that staying curious and open to opportunities—even those outside your usual scope—is incredibly valuable. Being willing to take on tasks that aren’t technically your responsibility not only broadens your skill set, it also shows your team that you’re adaptable, hardworking, and eager to contribute. In today’s fast‑moving market, that kind of flexibility and willingness to learn can make a meaningful difference in your growth and visibility.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The fashion, active, and licensing industries are navigating economic volatility, tariff disruptions, and shifting consumer spending, all while adapting to rising sustainability expectations and intense competition. At the same time, major opportunities are emerging as licensing continues to grow, storytelling-driven brand ecosystems gain traction, and technology—especially AI and virtual try-ons—reshapes product creation and consumer engagement. The active and sporting goods markets remain strong, driven by health and wellness trends, athleisure demand, and innovations in performance fabrics. Brands that stay agile, leverage technology, create consistent storytelling across partners, and tap into experiential retail stand to benefit the most in this evolving landscape.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
For me, one of the most important values—both at work and in my personal life—is truly enjoying the journey. I believe in staying curious, embracing opportunities to learn, and being open to whatever comes my way. Immersing yourself fully in whatever you're doing and taking the time to understand the world around you not only makes the experience more meaningful, but also makes you better at what you do. Ultimately, the more you explore, learn, and stay engaged, the more you grow.
