Her Story

About Diana

My journey into life coaching began in one of the most broken moments of my life. My husband served in the military for 20 years, and instead of continuing his career, he was medically discharged after having brain surgery. What we thought was the path we had laid for our lives took a detour, and I became his caregiver. I went from being a teacher, to being a mom, to now a caregiver, and I had to set aside all my dreams. It was a very difficult moment, but I decided I could not stay in that place. One of us needed to be healthy, one of us needed to take action to get well, so I did. I went back to school, got my master's, and became a life coach. Even through my own journey, other people saw it, and the Wounded Warrior Project called me to pilot a program and become a mentor for other veteran caregivers going through similar situations. I've been walking in that volunteer role for 4 years, and even though I started my business only 2 years ago, I was already doing this work as I walked my own journey. My typical day starts with investing in myself - I study my Bible for about an hour, prepare my son for school, go to the gym to work on my physical self, and then spend time writing or taking classes. Right now I'm working on a workbook. My day stops at 3 because that's when I fully embrace my other role as a mommy, and from there it's my son's extracurricular activities, family time, and dinner.

Ten minutes with Diana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say, definitely my faith has a lot to do with it, because it keeps me grounded, it keeps me humble. It helps me to do everything with excellence, to do everything out of love. And it also gives me the strength to continue fighting and getting up every single day. And along with that, I have to say that adversity, that adversity has had a way of making me resilient, given me more empathy for others, definitely, and stronger.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say right now, it's people not understanding the power of it. I feel like, in terms of my circle, a lot of people don't understand what the value of someone coaching, the value of having an accountability partner. The value of somebody just listening and seeing things that maybe you're not seeing, because you're just sitting on those limiting beliefs, or you're just sitting on those blind spots. That to me, right now, is one of those challenges that I'm facing.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity, definitely. Empathy. Integrity. Excellence - doing everything with excellence. And I would put love.
