About Diana
My aviation career began in 2011 in Ecuador, where I started as a passenger service agent with Latam Airlines. After two years, I was promoted to ground supervisor, a role I held for five years. As a woman leading a team of men on the ground, it was challenging but incredibly rewarding. I had to learn about aircraft operations, maintenance basics, and how to handle situations when aircraft were on the ground. I always say that if I could go back in time and start in a specific role, I would go back to that point because I learned so much. In 2018, I won the Diversity Lottery and moved to the United States, pursuing my dream of continuing in aviation. After working in various customer service roles, I joined Spirit Airlines in 2021 as a crew scheduler. Within nine months, I was promoted to an analyst position, where I worked as analyst 1 and 2 until 2025. When I was laid off due to company changes, I applied to American Airlines 69 times in different roles because I believed I had the knowledge and experience. Now I'm with American Airlines in the admin office of the maintenance department, handling payroll and HR functions. It's a new area for me since I've never been in the maintenance side before, but I'm still learning new things about the airline business every day.
