About Diane

I am a nationally recognized sales and use tax expert with over three decades of experience in tax consulting, education, and technology implementation. I am the Founder of both the Sales Tax Institute and YETTER – tax meets technology, both of which I have led since August 1996 in the Greater Chicago area. The Sales Tax Institute is a highly sought-after provider of sales and use tax training for business professionals, offering live seminars, webinars, and online courses that empower professionals with practical, actionable, and timely sales tax education. From nexus to amnesty programs to cloud software, we take the mystery out of sales and use tax to help business professionals strengthen their expertise in the industry. Through YETTER, I operate a sales tax consulting firm specializing in sales tax systems implementation, and I am a Certified Partner with sales tax software vendors including Vertex, Inc. and Thomson Reuters, as well as a Business Partner of Avalara and VertexCloud. I also assist with tax research, nexus studies, voluntary disclosure, amnesties, registration, and sales tax audit defense.

Before founding my own firms, I spent nearly eight years as a Manager at Arthur Andersen in Chicago, where I served as a State and Local Tax Manager servicing clients across a variety of industries. I was also a member of the Firmwide Sales Tax Specialty Team, the Firmwide Printing and Publishing Specialty Team, and the State and Local Tax Training Committee, where I had responsibility for the development of all sales tax training curriculum. Prior to Arthur Andersen, I served as a Sales and Use Tax Accountant at Quaker Oats, where I handled all sales and use tax issues for the company including audit defense, taxability research, planning, and oversight of compliance. I began my career as a Revenue Auditor II at the Kansas Department of Revenue, where I conducted sales and use tax audits of businesses operating in Kansas and developed a computerized audit workpaper program that I used to train all auditors in its use.

Across my career in sales and use tax, my work has been driven by a passion for demystifying complex tax issues and empowering business professionals with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate their obligations with confidence. Whether I am consulting with a client, training professionals at a seminar, or developing systems to streamline tax compliance, I am committed to excellence, education, and helping others succeed in the ever-changing world of sales and use tax.
