Her Story
About Diksha
As a policy consultant, I evaluate policy as it exists today, highlighting gaps and identifying where we can improve enforcement and better serve citizens. I develop evidence-based recommendations that go through the lawmaking process, and I defend these recommendations in front of congressmen and other people working at federal agencies. I provide them with enough evidence to support my recommendations and help with the actual rulemaking process, drafting the language to make sure it's airtight with no loopholes in interpretation. The most rewarding part of my job is watching that rule come into effect and gathering evidence on how it's changing lives in real time, improving the services we're providing as a federal agency. My work focuses on protecting the most vulnerable people and strengthening systems like healthcare insurance to prevent fraud and ensure quality services.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say your dedication towards making lives better for people, that should be at the forefront of how you navigate this industry. When you're deciding what opportunity to take up or where to go next, I feel like if you keep that priority at the forefront, that whatever organization you're with, or whatever sub-industry you're in, whether it's health, education, or gender rights, just remember that commitment that you're in this industry to make people's lives better and bring about change, positive change. So let that guide you, and let that be your motivating factor.
