What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to more than three decades of dedication to dentistry, a field that has been both my career and my calling. Throughout my journey, I have relied on commitment, resilience, and a deep belief in the power of teamwork to guide my growth and impact.
I began my career in dentistry 34 years ago, working in roles ranging from dental assisting to teaching and office management. Each position presented unique challenges and valuable lessons, reinforcing the importance of adaptability and lifelong learning in a constantly evolving profession. One of my proudest achievements was earning a second degree in radiology, a milestone that not only advanced my technical expertise but also deepened my dedication to providing exceptional patient care and professional excellence. Beyond the operatory, giving back has always been important to me. I have been fortunate to support charitable initiatives, knowing that service to others is inseparable from true professional fulfillment.
In recent years, life has presented profound changes, including navigating personal loss and embracing new forms of independence. These experiences reshaped my perspective, strengthened my resilience, and renewed my commitment to growth—both personally and professionally. As I look toward the future, I see opportunities to address gaps I’ve observed in dental billing and office procedures, particularly in corporate settings. Drawing on my extensive experience—from front office administration to dental assisting, along with my radiology certifications—I am now pursuing my own business focused on dental claims and collections, bringing expertise, insight, and a patient-centered approach to this important aspect of dental care.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Working in dentistry is not for the faint of heart. The long hours, fast-paced environments, and constant problem-solving can be challenging, but what has sustained me throughout my career is the value of a strong, team-oriented workplace. Dentistry is inherently collaborative—every role is essential, and true success depends on trust, clear communication, and mutual respect.
My background in teaching strengthened my communication skills and allowed me to mentor others, helping foster positive office cultures wherever I worked. To young women entering this field, I would say: embrace every opportunity to learn, lean on your colleagues, and remember that collaboration and empathy are just as important as technical expertise. Your ability to connect with others, support your team, and contribute to a positive environment will be a cornerstone of your long-term success.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in dentistry today is navigating the demanding realities of the profession—long hours, fast-paced environments, and the physical and mental stamina required to consistently deliver high-quality patient care. Another significant challenge is keeping pace with constantly evolving technologies and regulations, ensuring that every patient receives safe, up-to-date care. At the same time, these challenges create opportunities: by embracing innovation, fostering collaboration, and cultivating a strong, team-oriented workplace, dental professionals can improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, and create more resilient, adaptable practices.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are faith, dedication, and a commitment to excellence—including the importance of maintaining high standards, such as good hygiene. These principles shape how I approach challenges, interact with others, and strive to make a positive impact in every environment I am part of.
