Dolores Ocampo is a dedicated medical laboratory professional who began her career after graduating in 2015 and starting work in 2016. Born and raised in the Philippines where she completed all her schooling, she earned a master's degree in public health and is now pursuing a doctorate in business management. She immigrated to the United States in November 2021 on a working visa and began her career at Glens Falls Hospital in upstate New York. Ten minutes with Dolores
01What do you attribute your success to?
My family, especially my mom, has always been there for me and supported me wherever I want to go.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If you want to do something, you have to be proactive. You have to be your own advocate, because you cannot always wait for someone to recognize your potential. You have to do your best and tell yourself that you're ready to do it. If not now, when will you do it?
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be your own advocate. But also train yourself to not be impatient. Time flies really fast, and sometimes you just need to slow down and enjoy the moment.
