Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dominique
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to dedication and being resilient. Hearing that you're not good enough motivated me to be a better leader. Being able to learn and adapt is really important, and just being yourself, being authentic.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to focus on creating value, not just completing tasks. Early in my career, I learned that the people who make the greatest impact are those who understand the bigger picture, ask thoughtful questions, and look for opportunities to improve processes rather than simply checking boxes. That mindset has helped me grow into leadership roles where I can contribute strategically, collaborate across teams, and drive meaningful results.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't let self-doubt make decisions for you. There will be moments when you're the only woman in the room. Keep investing in yourself, seek mentors, and don't compare your journey to someone else's. My path wasn't linear, but every experience prepared me for where I am today.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in audience and email growth right now is balancing personalization with increasing privacy regulations and evolving data limitations. As third-party data becomes less reliable, organizations must focus on building strong first-party relationships by delivering relevant, permission-based content that provides real value. In the rare disease space, this is especially important because patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals rely on trusted, timely information to help them make informed decisions.
At the same time, there is tremendous opportunity to create more meaningful, personalized experiences through data-driven strategies and AI. By using audience insights to better understand subscriber needs, organizations can deliver the right content at the right time while remaining compliant with regulations like GDPR and CAN-SPAM. AI also has the potential to enhance segmentation, optimize email performance, and improve operational efficiency, allowing teams to better serve highly specialized communities without losing the human connection that is so important in healthcare.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In both my work and personal life, I value integrity, empathy, and continuous growth. I believe in being transparent, following through on commitments, and treating people with respect. In healthcare, especially within the rare disease community, it’s important to remember that behind every data point or email subscriber is a person looking for trusted information and support. That perspective drives the way I make decisions and approach my work.
I also value collaboration and curiosity. I enjoy working with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges, learning from different perspectives, and continuously improving processes and outcomes. Whether I’m developing audience growth strategies or building relationships with colleagues, I strive to create meaningful impact while maintaining accountability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.
