Her Story
About Dominoe
My interest in technology started early. I grew up around computers and gaming consoles, and that curiosity eventually turned into a career.
Before entering the tech field, I worked in customer-facing roles that taught me patience, communication, and how to help people through problems. My path into technology began through an unpaid internship at an indie video game studio, where I contributed to game-related projects while learning programming and web development. That experience helped open the door to website development and technical support work.
From there, I spent five and a half years as an IT Coordinator at a managed service provider before joining Lifelong Learning Administration Corporation. I started as a Tier 1 Technician, moved into Tier 2 support, and was recently promoted to Technologies Systems Analyst. I also work part-time as a Software Analyst for a security company.
What I enjoy most is helping people feel less intimidated by technology. Whether I am troubleshooting an issue, improving a process, or teaching someone how a system works, I care about making technology feel understandable and useful.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistence, curiosity, and being willing to learn as I go. My career path has not always been traditional, but every role has taught me something valuable. I have learned to ask questions, figure things out, and keep moving forward even when something feels difficult at first.
I also think a lot of my growth has come from being open to new opportunities and not being afraid to start where I am. Whether I am troubleshooting an issue, learning a new system, or taking on a new responsibility, I try to approach it with patience and a willingness to improve.
Most importantly, my son is a major part of what motivates me. I want to keep building a stable future, continue growing in my career, and show him that progress is possible when you keep going.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I have ever received is, “Don’t reinvent the wheel.” To me, that means you do not always have to start from scratch to create something valuable. If a solution, process, or resource already exists, use it, learn from it, and build on it. Time is better spent improving what works, solving the next problem, or helping people use the tools in a way that actually makes sense.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I would give to young women is to be okay with being bad at something in the beginning. It is going to be hard, and you may not be good at it right away, but that does not mean you will stay that way forever. Everyone has to go through the learning stage before they become confident or skilled.
Do not let the fear of failing stop you from trying. Time is going to pass either way, so you might as well spend it learning, growing, and giving yourself the chance to become good at something new.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field, especially in the Central Valley, is that tech opportunities can be more limited than they are in larger metropolitan areas. When companies close, restructure, or move away, it can have a real impact on the local job market.
Because of that, I think adaptability is extremely important. It helps to be willing to learn multiple areas of technology, whether that is support, systems, software, automation, reporting, or web development. Being a “jack-of-all-trades” can be valuable when you are working in a smaller market or supporting organizations with a wide range of needs.
I also think it is important to stay curious and keep learning outside of work. Finding hobbies within technology can help you build skills naturally, stay motivated, and discover which parts of the field you enjoy most.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me in both my work and personal life are family, well-being, and stability. My son is my biggest motivation, and being present for him is extremely important to me.
I also believe mental and physical health have to be protected. It is difficult to show up well for your work, your family, or yourself if you are constantly running on empty. For me, taking care of my home and keeping my space organized also helps me feel more grounded and focused.
At the end of the day, I think the small things matter. Family, health, peace, and a stable environment all play a big role in being able to grow and do meaningful work.
