Donna Gibson
Donna Gibson is a seasoned mortgage industry professional and software entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience spanning operations, leadership, and technology development. She began her career in a clerical role processing mortgage payments and steadily advanced through progressively senior positions, eventually serving as a president and chief operating officer in the industry. Over time, she transitioned into software development, focusing on building tools that improve efficiency, compliance, and client management within mortgage and financial services environments.
She is the founder and owner of two businesses: Doc Assure LLC and QC Services & Consulting LLC. Through Doc Assure, she leads the development of secure, business-to-business software solutions, including CRM and document management systems designed for financial institutions. Her consulting work focuses on mortgage quality control and appraisal/valuation services, where she applies deep industry expertise to help organizations improve accuracy, compliance, and operational performance. She also emphasizes adapting to industry volatility by creating scalable software that is not dependent on mortgage market cycles.
Beyond her professional work, she is actively involved in community and nonprofit efforts, particularly supporting youth sports through volunteer work and fundraising initiatives. A graduate of Gaston College, she values lifelong learning, mentorship, and giving back to others entering the field. Across her career and personal life, she is guided by principles of honesty, strong relationships, quality service, and empowering others through opportunity, mentorship, and leadership.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistence, dedication, and a commitment to never giving up, even during challenging periods. My educational path was unconventional—I graduated from high school at 16 and entered the workforce immediately. From there, I steadily built a long and meaningful career in the mortgage industry through continuous effort and resilience.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of career advice I’ve ever received is to learn something new every single day, no matter how small. I’ve found that consistently learning keeps me engaged, curious, and continuously growing both personally and professionally.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering this industry to know their value before anyone else defines it for them. I believe confidence and self-worth are essential when navigating professional spaces, and carrying that mindset helps establish a strong foundation for long-term success.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see the biggest opportunities in my field as the ability to listen closely to client needs and use that insight to expand and adapt software beyond traditional mortgage-specific use cases, creating broader innovation and long-term value. At the same time, the industry faces challenges such as reduced mortgage volumes, higher interest rates, and ongoing consolidation through closures and mergers and acquisitions, all of which contribute to uncertainty around staffing, profitability, and overall market stability.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are relationships, honesty, quality, and customer service. I believe that building strong relationships throughout my career is essential, and I place great importance on maintaining integrity and consistently delivering high-quality work.
