About Donna
Donna PalmerDanzy is a behavioral health specialist and crisis management professional based in Philadelphia, PA. Since beginning her career in 1995, she has dedicated herself to the mental health field, responding to crises through a mobile unit where she assists individuals and families with voluntary and involuntary evaluations, outpatient care, medication access, and reporting neglect. Prior to her current role, Donna served as a correctional officer in the Philadelphia prison system from 2006 to 2019, working with men, women, and juveniles on specialty units including high custody inmates, pregnant incarcerated women, mental health units for both men and women, and as coordinator for Alzheimer's patients. Her earlier experience includes work at an abortion clinic in Amberly, PA from 1995 to 2006, as well as positions at Horizon House and as a residential advisor for individuals with disabilities and intellectual disabilities. Donna earned an associate's degree at Community College and a bachelor's degree at Pierce College, and she is currently pursuing a master's degree in clinical therapy at the University of Phoenix with the goal of becoming a therapist for underprivileged communities. She attributes her success to her father's emphasis on education, combined with her life experience as a single mother and extensive work in mental health, which she sees as coming full circle with her studies. Donna values treating everyone fairly, ensuring all voices are heard, and supporting her family, friends, husband, children, and grandchildren while learning from mistakes to help future generations.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My father's emphasis on education - nobody could ever take away your education. Combined with life experience as a single mother and work experience in mental health that is now coming full circle with my studies.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never give up on yourself. Never give up on your dream. Never think that what you have to offer is not worth giving.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Everybody is treated fair and able to be heard. You can't judge a book by its cover. Value family, friends, husband, kids, and grandchildren. Learn from mistakes to help the next generation.
