Her Story

About Donna

Donna Williams is a motivational speaker, transformative coach, and entrepreneur based in Willingboro, New Jersey. She is the founder and owner of Donnastouch LLC, where she works with individuals who are ready to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. As a John Maxwell Leadership Certified coach and leader, Donna combines leadership development, life coaching, and personal transformation to help others move beyond limiting circumstances and create healthier experiences. She also brings extensive professional experience from her nearly 25-year career as a Train Operator with the New York City Transit Authority, from which she retired in 2013.

A significant part of Donna’s work centers on mental health advocacy, caregiving, and family support. For more than 15 years, she was involved with NAMI New Jersey, serving as an AACT-NOW South Region Coordinator and facilitator of family support groups. Through workshops, panel discussions, presentations, and community programs, she has worked to increase mental health awareness and reduce stigma while providing support from the caregiver’s perspective. Her commitment to this work is further reflected in her Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor certification and her service as a Board Member of Hope for Healing, Inc., a New Jersey nonprofit focused on social services.

Donna is also an advocate for personal growth, self-care, and empowerment. She has shared her experiences and insights through speaking engagements, podcasts, and her publication in the anthology Girl Be Self-Ish, contributing a chapter focused on self-care and the challenges of feeling like a “Superwoman.” Through her platform and The Comfort Zone podcast, she explores topics including relationships, personal development, resilience, and stepping beyond familiar patterns. Donna holds an Associate degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Old Westbury and has been a longtime member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Her work reflects a commitment to helping people recognize their potential, prioritize their well-being, and become intentional about creating healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Donna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to years of experience in coaching and consulting, a strong commitment to mental health and caregiving, and the guidance of mentors and supportive communities. My work with organizations such as Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and NAMI has also shaped my perspective, while developing a caregiver app has allowed me to turn my experience into meaningful solutions for others.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is, “When you’re going through hell, keep going.” I’ve learned to stay persistent, keep moving forward, and never give up, even when things get difficult.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to listen to understand, not simply to respond. Don’t be too hard on yourself or expect to have all the answers. Stay open to different perspectives, and always lead with consideration, compassion, and a willingness to learn.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is that caregiving continues to be undervalued, despite its essential role in supporting individuals, families, and communities.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are integrity, compassion, respect, empathy, and forgiveness. I believe in treating people the way I want to be treated, being intentional in my actions, and never giving up, even when challenges arise.
