Her Story

About Dora

I served in the military as a Financial Management Technician back in 2010, which is what kickstarted my career. That experience gave me a really strong foundation in who I am today as a professional and as a person. All the discipline, the responsibility, the attention to detail that I acquired while in the military is really what I credit who I am. After I transitioned out of the military, I went to school full-time and started building my civilian career. I jumped around from the automotive industry, then went to mortgage operations, and finally landed in Employee Benefits Administration. I have a really strong passion for math and I love logic. In my current role as a Senior Account Executive, I mainly focus on helping clients navigate complex processes involving implementation, compliance coordination, and onboarding. The company I work with specializes in designing benefit plan packages that meet the total health and welfare fringe contributions for government contractors. I've learned a lot in my role, and I truly believe in what we do here. My day-to-day is mainly client management, which has a high focus on administering the plan through proper filtering of information through HR managers and C-Levels accordingly.

Ten minutes with Dora

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to consistency, resilience, and a willingness to continuously learn. Throughout my career, I've worked across multiple industries - from military financial management to finance, mortgage operations, and now employee benefits administration. Each transition required me to learn new skills, adapt quickly, and stay focused on delivering results.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be the person who solves problems, not just the person who identifies them. That advice has stayed with me throughout my career because it encourages critical thinking, ownership, and adding value beyond my immediate responsibilities. It's helped me grow into roles with greater responsibility and trust.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay trainable, and don't be afraid to ask questions and take on challenges that stretch your skills. The benefits industry can be complex, but confidence comes from learning and experience. Build strong relationships, stay curious, and remember that your perspective and contributions are valuable.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the benefits industry is keeping up with the changing regulations, technology, and employee expectations. Employers are always looking for ways to improve and be competitive while managing rising costs. At the same time, there are tremendous opportunities to leverage data, automation, and technology to improve the employee experience and make benefit administration more efficient. Professionals who can combine technical knowledge, problem-solving, and strong client service skills will be especially valuable as the industry continues to evolve.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, accountability, and continuous growth are the values that guide me both professionally and personally. I believe in doing what I say I'll do, taking ownership of challenges, and always looking for ways to improve. I also value family and relationships, which help keep me grounded.
