Her Story
About Dora
I served in the military as a finance management technician back in 2010, which was my first ever job straight out of high school. That experience gave me a really strong foundation in who I am today as a professional and as a person. All the discipline, the responsibility, the attention to detail that I learned while I was in the military is really what I credit who I am to that time, because it was the first time ever being an adult. After I transitioned out of the military, I went to school full-time and started building my civilian career. I jumped around from the automotive industry, then went to mortgage operations, and finally landed in Employee Benefits Administration. I have a really strong passion for math and I love logic, I love the way math works. In my current role as a Senior Account Executive, I mainly focus on helping clients navigate complex processes involving implementation, compliance coordination, and onboarding. The company I work with specializes in budgeting health and welfare fringe contributions for government contractors. It's money the government is giving to government contractors so that they can turn around and flip it into benefits for the employees. I've learned a lot in my role, and I truly believe in what we do here. Day-to-day is mainly client management, and my job really is to gather all of the information that we get from the employees and filter that through to the HR managers and the fee levels of the clients that we have. We're kind of the bridge between them. I keep telling myself every day, I gotta stay trainable, because the government is releasing new things every day, and if we're not caught up on it, a client's gonna bring it up, and it could cost a lot of money.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stay trainable. It doesn't matter, as long as you have the right attitude, you can do literally anything. But you have to stay trainable. That's what I continue to give myself every day.
