Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dora

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to leading with transparency and to the guidance of those who believed in me along the way. I am especially grateful to my teacher, Mrs. Cirillo, who challenged me to grow, helped me find my voice, and encouraged me to recognize my potential. I am also thankful for the influence of my leadership mentor, Mr. Outlaw, whose guidance and support helped shape my leadership journey.

I have remained committed to my own development through continuous learning, open communication, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. Throughout my career, I have benefited from the investment of mentors and educators, and I am equally passionate about encouraging and supporting others as they pursue their own paths to success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to “inspect what you expect.” A mentor shared this with me, and it taught me the importance of preparation, accountability, and consistency in everything I do.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to know your “why,” as it is what grounds and sustains you in this work. When your purpose is clear, it guides your decisions and keeps you focused through challenges. I also believe deeply that students need someone who believes in them, so lead with encouragement, presence, and the willingness to see potential in others.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is that leaders and teachers are often overwhelmed, which can make it difficult for them to fully see or embrace new processes and change management solutions. The key is fostering trust and creating space for open communication so that change feels supportive rather than disruptive.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values in my work and personal life are keeping God at the center of everything I do, living with purpose, and having complete faith in what I’m doing. These values guide my decisions, strengthen my commitment, and keep me grounded in both personal and professional settings.
