Dorcas Burke

Dorcas Liliane Burke is a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts and New Hampshire whose work is grounded in compassion, cultural sensitivity, and trauma-informed care. She holds a Master’s of Education in Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Trauma from Cambridge College and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Spanish from Merrimack College. Fluent in English and Spanish, with basic proficiency in Italian, Dorcas brings strong communication skills and cultural awareness to her clinical practice, allowing her to serve diverse populations with empathy and effectiveness.

With extensive experience across inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings, Dorcas has built a well-rounded career supporting individuals and families through complex mental health challenges. She currently serves as a Bilingual Mental Health Counselor at Merrimack College, providing counseling services to undergraduate students, while also working as a Resident Services Coordinator with Peabody Properties. Her professional background includes impactful roles with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, adult day health programs, and intensive foster care services, where she managed complex caseloads and advocated for vulnerable populations.

As a clinician, Dorcas prioritizes the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs of her clients, offering unconditional positive regard, active listening, and a collaborative therapeutic approach. She treats a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, grief, PTSD, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and substance use disorders.
