Doreen Mayrell

I have about 20 years of experience in education, and I've been in my current position for about 5 years. I started in math education, teaching anywhere from elementary up through high school, with the majority of my experience being in secondary education. I then got into teaching at higher education levels, teaching college algebra and calculus courses at the local community college. I've always still taught and never wanted to leave the classroom completely, so I always teach at least a course per semester. Since AI came out, I've really gone into AI and education. I found that education is in need of something revolutionary to adapt and change it since the times and the world we live in are changing. I used my expertise from my current role and created a flipped classroom model using AI, which ended up being really successful. I've presented on it globally and written a book about it called AI Flipped Classroom, The End of Lecturing. I have two roles now. My first one is working for a company called Learn With AI, where we build curriculum for alpha schools that follow a two-hour learning model. The curriculum uses AI to tailor to students' specific needs, with students maybe in 4th grade math but 5th or 6th grade reading. In the afternoon, they do real-world workshops where they gain expertise and skills they need for the real world. I work with a team of prompt engineers, and we build the curriculum that the school uses. In addition to that, I work at the college teaching math courses.
