Her Story
About Dori
Dori Bon serves as Founder, Owner, and CEO of Earth Fertilizers, a company she opened in 2014 after working in the industry since 2008. The business operates as a white label blender and manufacturer, producing botanical pest controls that are safe for pollinators, micro fertilizers and soil builders that rejuvenate depleted soils, chitosan spray made from fermented crushed shells to remediate toxins and kill fungus, and mosquito tick spray. Bon's background is in horticulture, which she began studying at Edison Community College though she did not complete a degree, and she partners with a chemical engineer to develop these environmentally focused formulations. She attributes her success to prayer and her faith in Jesus Christ, which guided her through personal challenges including a car accident and raising her daughter as a single mother. Bon has volunteered with Earth First and Greenpeace, and she values contributing to the betterment of natural ecosystems while teaching others about soil health, pollinator protection, and planetary stewardship. Her website is at www.firstfertilizers.com.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dori
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a lot of prayer. My faith in Jesus Christ. I turn everything over to him and he guides me where I need to go. I walked my property and prayed and asked the Lord to show me what He wanted me to do and it all evolved and doors opened.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't give up. Don't give up, just keep going and learn as much as you possibly can about the subject that you're involved in.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't give up. If your dream in your heart is given to you, keep going through thick and thin, don't give up, stay on track.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is not being able to talk to mass amount of people about the importance of soil and protecting our pollinators. There is not enough information out there being received. The opportunities are so many, I can teach people how to create a real revenue and at the same time they're helping the planet.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Contributing to the betterment of our natural ecosystem is very important to me. I thrive through that. And to teach people about the value and the stewardship that we are given while we're here on this planet.
