Words to Live By

"Success is not measured by what we accomplish alone, but by how many others we help grow along the way."

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dorothy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I owe my success to a combination of curiosity, perseverance, and the willingness of others to share their knowledge along the way. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work with talented colleagues, mentors, and clients who challenged me to think differently and continue growing. I have always believed that success comes from being willing to learn, adapt, and step outside of your comfort zone. Most importantly, I have learned that strong relationships and a collaborative mindset often create opportunities that technical expertise alone cannot.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Most of the best advice I have ever received came from my father. I think the best piece of advice he ever gave me was, "Never present a problem without also being prepared to propose a potential solution."

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Find Your Voice Early. Speak up in meetings. Ask questions. Share ideas even when you're the youngest or least experienced person in the room. Understand that your perspective has value long before you become an expert.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is helping healthcare organizations navigate constant change. Ambulatory Surgery Centers must balance evolving regulatory requirements, payer rules, reimbursement pressures, staffing shortages, and increasing patient expectations—all while maintaining operational efficiency and delivering high-quality care.

Another significant challenge is ensuring that our technology is used effectively. Healthcare organizations invest heavily in software and systems, but realizing the full value of those investments requires process alignment, staff training, and ongoing optimization. Technology alone does not solve problems; success comes from combining the right tools with the right workflows and people.

Finally, healthcare is becoming increasingly data-driven. Organizations have access to more information than ever before, but turning that data into meaningful insights and actionable decisions remains a challenge. Helping clients bridge that gap and use data to improve both financial and operational performance is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most, both professionally and personally, are integrity, continuous learning, service, and perseverance. Integrity is the foundation of everything I do. I believe in being honest, transparent, and accountable, whether I am working with clients, colleagues, friends, or family. Trust is earned through consistency, and I strive to be someone others can rely on.

I also place a high value on continuous learning. The healthcare and technology industries are constantly evolving, and I believe growth comes from remaining curious, embracing new challenges, and being willing to learn from both successes and setbacks.

Service is another core value, especially as a Christian. I believe strongly in the concept of servant leadership and find the greatest satisfaction in helping others succeed—whether that means supporting a client, mentoring a colleague, or sharing knowledge that helps someone achieve their goals. I believe leadership is less about position and more about the positive impact we have on others.

Finally, perseverance has played a significant role throughout my life and career. Challenges are inevitable, but I believe resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude are what allow us to overcome obstacles and continue moving forward.

These values shape not only how I approach my work, but also how I strive to live my life each day.
