About Dorsa
Dorsa Hosseini serves as the Performance Lead and Analytics Lead for an AI agent project at YouTube, based in the New York office. With over a year in the tech industry and more than six years of prior experience in banking, she previously worked at Royal Bank of Canada analyzing home equity risk and international money products. Dorsa earned a bachelor's degree in economics in Iran before completing her master's degree in management analytics at the University of Toronto in 2018. She recently received YouTube's North Star Award for Bold and Responsible contributions. Dorsa supports Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto through its research programs and values integrity and humility in both her professional and personal life. She attributes her success to persistence and adaptability developed after moving to Canada at a young age.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think probably to trying enough to give myself the luck and chance for things to happen. And I think it definitely came from the fact that I moved to Canada when I was younger, when I was [AGE], and I just needed to try more to just get to the next step, and I think it just built the trait in you that you just have to try until it happens. And just giving yourself more chance and more luck by trying more.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I think one quote that I love is, taking my work seriously, but not myself seriously.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think what I would say is believing in what they are doing, and not underestimating the value that they bring to the table, and always having the mindset that they belong. I think that really helps to move forward.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the challenges is that as companies are trying to transform some of their workflows and interactions with users through AI, there is a very high percentage of AI-averse people. The biggest opportunity is automating some of the flows like some of the tools that can actually be handled by AI with AI, it really gives users better answer, like more streamlined, better experience at times, at their own timing.

I think integrity. And being humble.
