About Dr
Michelle Brandi serves as CPAR Research Scholar, consultant, and college professor while working as an educator, author, and community-based research scholar. She earned her psychology degree from the University of Virginia, graduating in 2003 after starting in 2000, and was hired as a program manager in 2012 before pivoting to nonprofit work focused on community engagement. Her expertise lies in community-based research, psychology, and storytelling, where she emphasizes equity by ensuring all voices are heard without preconceptions. She has organized National Night Out in Richmond's East End or Churchill community for 10 years and was recently recognized for this effort. Brandi values listening to stories and creating reciprocal learning models in her teaching and research, drawing from her experiences at the University of Virginia where she ran a psychology lab as an undergraduate research assistant.
