Her Story

About Dr.

My main area of expertise is in partnerships, building and strengthening partnerships, collaborations, improving and working with workforce development, and aligning workforce development and education. A lot of what I spend my time doing is meeting with stakeholders to align systems, bridging the gap between education and workforce development, making sure we have the right partners at the table, and just really trying to strategize to find ways to improve educational outcomes for our students. Through the public school district, I work with K-12 students. The most significant thing is just exposing our children to various career opportunities, helping our students to find career paths that work for them, whether it's pathways to higher education, or pathways to employment, or pathways to military, or just the skills trade. I'm just making sure that we're providing students with exposure to those various pathways. I jokingly say I have a business mind but a servant's heart, and that's how I think I tag my professions, my education, and also how I've utilized my business degree and social work degree.

Ten minutes with Dr.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received was do it afraid. Even if you're scared, or even if you think you don't have what it takes, still move forward and do it afraid.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give is to seek out a mentor and to surround yourself with individuals that can help you to grow professionally and personally. And to just listen. I know the value of having a mentor because I did not formally have one for myself, which is why I advise anyone new coming in to seek out a mentor.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My values are treating people as you would want to be treated. Definitely, I am a woman of faith. I believe in serving with gratitude. I lead with gratitude. I believe in honesty, high level of integrity, professionalism, and just being kind.
