About Dr
Dr. Crystal Keyes owns a workplace readiness consulting business in Columbus that she launched in 2023, which also includes publishing her own training materials. Her programs focus on equipping justice-impacted individuals through the Reentry Workforce Readiness Program and preparing youth for the workforce, with an emphasis on professional communication, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, accountability, and identifying workplace bullying. Keyes holds a clerical specialist certification from trade school, a bachelor's degree in business administration, a master's in human resource and business management, and a doctorate in education with an emphasis on organizational development from Grand Canyon University. She attributes her success to her parents' emphasis on hard work, accountability, professionalism, and obtaining the necessary education or certifications. Keyes gives back by mentoring students in Business Professionals of America competitive events, where she previously won at the state level and placed 11th nationally. She values integrity above all and is committed to empowering individuals for professional and personal growth while navigating challenges such as providing services to nonprofits through grants and in-kind work.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My parents instilled hard work, accountability, and professionalism in me. They emphasized getting the education and knowledge needed to succeed in whatever field chosen, whether a college degree, certification, or trade.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Knowing that you are giving 100% is what counts first. Start with yourself, considering possible cultural differences, then improve from there.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Remain committed to helping people as much as possible. Strengthening empowerment is very important. Empower individuals toward meaningful professional and personal growth.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenge of offering services to nonprofits that cannot afford them, leading to in-kind work or seeking grants to provide tools without turning anyone away.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is the number one value. Everything trickles down from operating in an atmosphere of integrity.
