Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dr. Nadine
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a few factors: my determination to never give up, my willingness to remain teachable, my desire to keep going and amazing people -especially family who supported and pushed me throughout my entire journey. Also, following my dreams combining psychology and HR, pursued my doctorate and the right opportunities played a significant role in getting me where I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My Dad always placed a strong emphasis on pursuing a career rather than merely a job, which motivated me to further my studies and combine my interests in psychology. A job may provide a paycheck, but a career is built on continuous learning, strong relationships and purposeful choices. Don't focus only on getting hired; focus on focusing skills, getting experience, and moving towards the professional you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I would give young women entering the industry are make your work visible. Keep track of your accomplishments, share results, and don’t assume people will do it for you. Set clear boundaries. Always communicate your expectations, and remember that being nice doesn’t mean being constantly available. Advocate for yourself because no one is going to advocate for you. Achieve and follow your ambitions. Pursue that dream and follow that dream. There will be many bumps in the road but keep going. Begin, proceed, and finish.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The HR profession encounters numerous obstacles, such as drawing in and maintaining skilled employees, addressing diversity and inclusion in the workplace, adjusting to technological advancements, prioritizing employee well-being and engagement. Effectively managing these challenges necessitates that HR professionals stay flexible, strategic, and attentive to both the objectives of the organization and the needs of employees.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I prioritized integrity, determination setting an example for others, determination, leadership, compassion and while aiming to foster positive change inspiring others. Being grounded in my faith, has been my pillar to overcome many obstacles and challenges in my life.
