About Dr. Tawauna
Dr. Tawauna Mcclendon is a healthcare operations and practice management leader with 20 years of experience. She began her career 20 years ago as a front office receptionist in a long-term care nursing facility. After earning an associate's degree in medical assisting, she worked as a medical assistant across specialties including family medicine, cardiology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and neurology before advancing into leadership as a lead medical assistant, lead supervisor, and manager. She currently serves as a Medical Office Manager in a clinical healthcare setting, overseeing staff, workflows, and operations. Dr. Mcclendon holds a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration received in 2025, a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, Certified Medical Assistant credential, certification in long-term care administration, and a healthcare management certification. She is also active as a community volunteer.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Putting God first is always number one. I lost both of my parents when I was young, which pushed me to stay motivated and do better for myself. After having my son, that definitely pushed me to achieve my goals even more. I just want to grow and improve myself.
