About Dr. April

She is a dedicated education and workforce development leader with over a decade of experience in early childhood education, program leadership, and community development across nonprofit and academic settings. Currently serving as Workforce Development Advisor at Save the Children US, she leads initiatives to strengthen workforce capacity and professional development in early childhood and community programs. Prior to this role, she served as Advisor for the Early Steps Home Visiting Program in Eastern Kentucky, providing direct support to families and children. Her career includes serving as Head Start Teacher, Director of the Rosenwald Center for Child Development at Kentucky State University, and Owner and Director of Amazing Creations Preschool, LLC. She also worked as an Information Technology Specialist at Eastern Kentucky University, where she later earned her Doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy Studies. She holds a degree in Child Development and Family Studies from Berea College. She is recognized as a passionate, equity-focused, and visionary leader who is deeply committed to improving outcomes for children, families, and communities through education, workforce development, and systems change.
