Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dr Chanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my Faith and the values instilled in me by my Parents. Becoming a Christian at the age of 18 led me to embrace a Christ-Centered Life which provided the Balance, Guidance, and Stability I needed as a young Adult. Those principles shaped my Life Decisions, Strengthened my Work Ethic, and helped me remain Focused throughout my career. I was also blessed to serve two prominent Churches in Inglewood, California and Youngstown, Ohio for 30 years,—which gave me a strong sense of Purpose and Fulfillment throughout my Professional Journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my Twin-sister, Charice. Her guidance ultimately helped me land my job as a Flight Attendant. She told me, “Don’t forget to put on Your Red Lipstick,” a simple reminder to always present myself with Confidence, Professionalism, and Attention to Detail. I truly credit her Encouragement and Support throughout my Aviation Career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The best advice I would give to young Women entering my Industry is to prioritize your Health and Well-Being above all else. I became a Flight Attendant at the age of 51, and it was an incredibly Rewarding experience that reminded me that Age does not define your ability to Succeed or Thrive in A New Career. My advice is to stay healthy, maintain your energy, and take care of yourself physically and mentally. When you do that, you give yourself the strength and confidence to pursue your goals and fully embrace the opportunities ahead. Look at me now...I'll be 65 Years old in November and have just launched A New Business Venture! I'm so excited about greater Experiences that will evolve from helping people do what I love in All Things TRAVEL: CLETA TRAVEL EXCLUSIVES LLC.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The greatest opportunity in my field as a now Retired Flight Attendant was the ability to meet People from all walks of life Every Day and All Day. Each Trip was unique, whether it’s a new Flight Crew you may never work with again or Passengers would most likely only see once in your life. These brief Encounters can still be meaningful, sometimes leading to lasting Friendships or simply Memorable Interactions. What I love most is the Diversity and Constant Change—no two Days were ever the same, and it truly feels like the world was at my fingertips.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my Work and Personal Life are Honesty and Integrity. I believe Honesty goes a long way, even when it may not always be what people want to hear, because it reflects who you truly are. Walking in Integrity guides how I present myself and how I interact with others, and I feel it is something that cannot be compromised or easily matched.
