							Dr. Dianne (Dr. O) Olvera, Ph.D., BCET, is an accomplished author, professor, researcher, and Board Certified Educational Therapist based in Aurora, Colorado. With decades of experience in education and human development, she has dedicated her career to fostering effective communication, bilingual education, and inclusive learning practices. A graduate of the University of Arizona, Dr. Olvera holds a Ph.D. in Language, Reading, and Culture and a Ph.D. in Bilingual Special Education (ABD). Her diverse academic and professional background has positioned her as a respected voice in educational therapy, intercultural communication, and language acquisition.
Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Olvera has served as an adjunct professor at several prestigious universities, including the University of Massachusetts, Brandman University, and California Polytechnic State University. Her teaching and research encompass bilingual special education, Spanish for professionals, autism spectrum disorders, and socialization strategies that bridge communication gaps among diverse learners. What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always see the positive in everyone. This perspective has helped me build stronger relationships, foster collaboration, and maintain a positive outlook even in challenging situations.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to always carry yourself with professionalism and integrity. How you present yourself and the values you uphold will set the foundation for lasting respect and success.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunities in my field come when people see and recognize the work I’ve put into my book—it opens doors for connection, growth, and meaningful impact. The greatest challenge, however, is overcoming skepticism from those who may not initially believe in the message or its value. But I see that as motivation to continue proving the power of authenticity and purpose through my work.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are honor and integrity. I believe in doing what’s right, even when no one is watching, and in treating others with respect. Above all, I hold the belief that there is good in everyone, and I strive to see and nurture that goodness in all my interactions.
