Her Interview
Ten minutes with Drea
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to making the hard decisions, especially when I had to choose between staying in to get assignments done or going out with friends. I chose to stay in and do the work so I could see better results later.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would definitely say that the most important thing is, first off, stay focused and keep pushing through, no matter how hard it is, because there's definitely a lot of things and stuff that comes in life where you might want to give up. I feel like it's very important that you have faith in yourself, and also make it, and you will achieve, no matter what.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenges are definitely it's very hard being in a male-dominated field. It's hard to find because they don't think the same way that we do. A good way to overcome it is just to talk to people either within your field who are like you or talk to people in general. The opportunity for growth would be networking, putting yourself out there, talking to people, because you never know who you might meet that can end up helping you get your future dream job.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
What's valuable to me is just having opportunities, a bunch of opportunities to do better. I feel like any opportunity you can to meet new people or go out especially if it's in your field is valuable enough to take time off. Time is valuable to me, and I feel like you should use all of your time to help and better yourself, meeting new people, doing schoolwork.
