Her Story
About Dr. Karla
I became an author starting in 2016, though I hold a doctorate in biotechnology. Despite my scientific training, writing proved to be much more fulfilling for me. My last book, 'The Woman Who Emerged Finally Free,' inspired readers to suggest I start a movement, which I did this year by founding Women Who Emerge. I have attempted suicide twice, and those experiences became the basis for many of my books where I tell my story. Since I started sharing my story, many women have come to me saying they've felt the same way but don't want to tell anyone. I have become the voice for persons who will not speak. My main area of expertise is helping women transform their lives from one where they are invisible to one where they feel in control. My tagline is 'from survival to sovereignty,' helping women move from merely surviving day-to-day activities to striving towards their true purpose. My typical day involves meeting with people to give the movement more exposure, continuing to write, and coaching women virtually through the path of emergence. I work from home, and my days are usually very long, starting at 5am and often not ending until 8pm.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dr. Karla
01What do you attribute your success to?
I follow my passion, and I am one of those persons who execute. We have a lot of people who will have grand ideas and good ideas, but if you don't execute, you will get nowhere. That, I believe, is probably one of my greatest strengths. I don't waste time. I execute right away. I don't even know if I still consider myself that great of a success, but I have been following my passion, and that has made all the difference in my journey.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
A lot of times, we as women fear the unknown. I think everybody really fears the unknown, but if it is truly your desire, you must follow your purpose. Because when something truly belongs to you and belongs to your heart, the doors will open, even if you can't see them at this particular moment. The doors are going to open if that is your path. So I would say follow your dreams.
