Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dr. Parul
01What do you attribute your success to?
I've been fortunate to have good role models and mentors early on in life both at work and in my personal life. The support in that network was very beneficial to me, and that's something that I also look forward to giving back at this stage of my career by building the next set of leaders, not just in general, but also women leadership in tech.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice was to be bold - ask questions and express my opinion every time, ensuring that I'm able to put my point across and not get worried about what people think about me or what they say, especially in a male-dominated tech industry where you're often the only woman in the room. Remember- If you don't ask. the answer is always "NO".
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Reach out to communities and role models, do not feel alone, feel free to reach out to other women and people who've gone through the same journey to get advice and seek advice. Being a part of a community or women networks would definitely help, especially when personal commitments come in and careers might be put on hold.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI is changing almost on a monthly basis with a big advent of different AI tools and products, so you need to continuously keep yourself updated and learn. It can be a challenge to balance with other priorities but it's a big opportunity because we keep learning and growing, and those ahead of the curve will see the advantage through interacting and sharing with others in the field.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The number one value is integrity and being honest, being true to yourself. Also being compassionate, especially in healthcare not just focusing on data or tech but on the quality of people and their needs, as patients are on difficult journeys with anxiety and personal turmoil. This compassion is important in personal life too, being kind to your family and to yourself.
