About Dr. Rula

I am an educator and educational leader with a deep commitment to urban education, teacher development, and student success, currently serving as a Teacher at Icahn Charter School, a role I have held since September 2023, and as a Doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership. I also serve as an Adult ENL Teacher and Staff Developer at Yonkers Public Schools, a part-time role I have held since March 2018, where I support adult learners and provide staff development to enhance instructional practice.

Prior to my current roles, I served as an Elementary School Teacher at the NYC Department of Education for nearly two years, where I taught in one of the nation's largest urban school districts and developed my expertise in urban education, teaching, and student engagement.

I am completing a Doctor's Degree in Educational Leadership at Central Michigan University, which I have been pursuing since June 2021 and will complete in May 2026. I also hold a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University, which I completed in May 2023.

Across my career in education, my work has been driven by a belief that every child deserves access to high-quality, culturally responsive instruction and that strong leadership and teacher development are essential to creating equitable schools. Whether I am teaching in the classroom, supporting adult English language learners, or developing staff to improve their practice, I bring a growth mindset, a collaborative approach, and a dedication to making a difference in the lives of students and educators. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and excited to continue contributing to the field of education as a teacher, leader, and scholar.
