Her Story

About Dr. Stephanie

I've been working in television as a talk show host and performer for at least 20 years. I always wanted my own television network - I thought about it even before Oprah had hers, but I didn't know what the path was to get there. Now, I own Page One TV Network with my husband, and we're 5 years into this journey. He's the editor and director, and we're co-producers, though I'm the owner on paper. We're available on Roku, Fire TV, Apple, Chrome TV, and other platforms, and we're global, which means people can watch us all over the world. I produce television shows for people who want to do a TV show - they come to me with their idea, we sit down and discuss what they want to do, and then I produce it. I do all the writing, directing, and producing. My most notable achievement is The Stephanie Smith Show. I'm also a singer and psalmist, and I've traveled and toured in Italy and Europe. I love to write and have written two books. I'm an event planner, and I like to give events, mainly non-profit. What inspired me most was people getting their message out, whatever that message is, and being able to help someone. We provide a platform for people who want to do all types of shows - we have ministries, exercise professionals, boxing shows, and all kinds of content. We started at PCTV on public access, where I was Vice President of the Board of Directors.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dr. Stephanie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my upbringing in church - my church upbringing and background. It gave me the courage, the strength, the love, and the faith in God. That's what keeps me grounded to this day. My faith and church background have been the foundation that has allowed me to pursue my dreams and stay strong through challenges.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was that you have to think positive about what it is that you're trying to do, and the moment that doubt comes into your mind, you've killed it. In the line of work that I was in, that was perfect for me because I'm an entertainer. When I come up with ideas and things that I want to do, especially non-profit work and ministry, you can get discouraged very easily. So you really have to remember that every loss is actually pushing you forward for a win. You can't let doubt stop you from achieving what you want to accomplish.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field right now is finding the right people and getting customers - people who like to do what we do. We recently expanded, which will hopefully lessen the challenges. You'd be really surprised that people are afraid of how they're going to look on TV more than anything else. People can have ideas and want to do it, but they're just afraid to do it. It's not very expensive depending on what they're going to do - if they already know what they want and have it together, we don't need much, but if we have to take our whole crew in and produce, then that runs into thousands of dollars. Nowadays, you can take an iPhone and set it up with a ring light and you're on your way, whether it's a podcast or a 15-minute TV show. Right now we're offering a 15-minute TV show option, whether it's a podcast or a 15-minute message, whatever it is that you want to say or sell or get out there. Most of the people doing their own TV shows on our network are ministries who just televise their Sunday morning service. Our biggest thing now is just getting subscribers because we've flipped it in a different direction.
