Ten minutes with Dr. Veronica
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith, the support of my family and mentors, and the perseverance to remain committed to my goals. Their encouragement and guidance have provided a strong foundation throughout my journey, reminding me of the importance of discipline, resilience, and staying true to my values.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to never allow comfort to become a limitation. The moments that have shaped me most were the ones that challenged me to grow, adapt, and step into opportunities before I felt completely ready. Each experience has strengthened my confidence, expanded my perspective, and reinforced the importance of continuous growth throughout my personal and professional journey.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is simple. Remember to enter every room knowing you belong there. Trust the knowledge, experiences, and perspective you bring, while remaining open to growth and the wisdom of others. Do not wait for permission to lead. Embrace opportunities, advocate for yourself, and use your voice to create meaningful change. True leadership is not only about the positions we hold, but the doors we open, the knowledge we share, and the opportunities we create for those who follow.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest challenges facing the social work profession is ensuring equitable pathways to licensure while preparing and sustaining a strong workforce. Addressing this challenge through exceptional clinical supervision and ongoing professional development will strengthen the profession and improve the quality of care for the individuals and communities we serve.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I am guided by a commitment to purposeful leadership, continuous evolution, and the courage to pursue meaningful change. I believe our greatest influence is not measured solely by what we accomplish, but by the knowledge we share, the opportunities we create, and the lives we help shape along the way.
