About Ebony
Ebony Cockrell's career in higher education spans nearly 15 years, beginning as a student worker in the financial aid office during her undergraduate studies around 2010 and transitioning to full-time work in 2013. Since 2021, she has served in graduate admissions at Houston Christian University, where she manages the entire student enrollment funnel. Her responsibilities include guiding students through the application process, helping them get enrolled for their first semesters, acclimating them to the university, and acting as a faculty liaison between students and faculty in graduate admissions. She also teaches freshman seminars, specifically an introduction to college course for students in the College of Science and Engineering. As a first-generation college student, Ebony earned her Bachelor's in Science in Agriculture Leadership and Development from Texas A&M University in 2013. She continued her education at Houston Christian University, where she now works, earning a Master of Education in Higher Education with a counseling emphasis in 2023 and a Master's of Science in Learning Technology and Design in December 2025. She is currently exploring opportunities in adjunct teaching and education consulting to further expand her impact in the field of higher education.
