Eden Growney

Eden Growney developed an early interest in computer science during her junior year of high school, drawn to its logical foundations and broad applicability across domains after also enjoying physics for its ability to explain the world. She pursued a master's program that included research collaboration with the Sky Lab at Northwestern, where she and cohort members built a neural operator to simulate black holes, honing her ability to quickly learn new concepts and apply them effectively. Eden served as vice president of programming for her sorority, developing leadership skills through impact-based work such as educating members, planning community events, and navigating sensitive conversations. She built a product from scratch at a startup, growing it to five users and leading customer meetings to refine features. Eden has also championed sustainability, founding a high school nonprofit to donate reusable grocery bags and serving as an ambassador for Remake World to promote sustainable fashion practices and educate the public on the harms of fast fashion. She draws entrepreneurial inspiration from her mother, who started a business when Eden was in third grade, and benefits from mentorship by her godmother, a CFO in private equity and venture capital.
