Her Story

About Edith

I have been in this field for 12 years. We are Latinas in Construction. We work to make sure that more women, more Hispanic women have opportunity to work in construction and also work to defend them and protect them when they are being victim of sexual harassment or gender discrimination. Prior to this I was working for other people and volunteering in many different nonprofits because that's what I like to do.

Ten minutes with Edith

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

If you don't fight for your rights, nobody will.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay together, work together, don't fight for your right, don't give any chance or any path to anybody. You have to defend your right every single time.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

For Hispanic women there are a lot of challenges: a misogynist, gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and abused against women. When they got the opportunity to work they are either not promoted nor respected.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, solidarity, and respect for all the rights of fathers.
