Ten minutes with Eileen
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice is to be a good listener when doing interviews. Many journalists think about the next question instead of listening to the people being interviewed.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't do it because AI is going to replace us. If you love communications, study two careers like law and journalism or political science and journalism so you have room just in case or become an expert in one subject.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges come with experience and become daily job like writing stories and interviewing. Opportunities include meeting influential people and community contact where people feel you are part of their family.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty is very important. I try to help at least a person a day. Integrity and responsibility. Commitment to show up and give your very best even if you didn't sleep.
