Ten minutes with Elena
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of persistence, strong relationships, and a servant leadership mindset. Throughout my career, I've never been afraid to roll up my sleeves, face challenges head-on, and continue learning along the way. I've found that success isn't about having all the answers, but about remaining curious, adaptable, and committed to finding solutions.
At the same time, I believe meaningful success is achieved through people. I strive to lead with integrity, empathy, and accountability, whether working with customers, colleagues, or leadership teams. Building trust, listening to understand, and helping others succeed have been at the core of my approach. By bringing people together, fostering collaboration, and staying focused on shared goals, I've been able to create positive outcomes and lasting partnerships.
Ultimately, I measure success not only by results but by the impact I make on others. Staying dependable, maintaining a strong work ethic, and helping those around me grow has been the foundation of both my personal and professional achievements.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was, "Focus on helping others succeed, and your success will follow." Early in my career, I learned that leadership isn't about titles or recognition; it's about serving others, building meaningful relationships, and creating value wherever you can. I've found that when I lead with empathy, collaboration, and a genuine desire to help, strong results naturally follow.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I would give is simple: give yourself some grace and be present. Don't put pressure on yourself to have all the answers right away. Focus on learning, stay consistent, and trust that growth comes from experience. Lean into the qualities that make you uniquely you. Empathy, authenticity, and the ability to relate to others are strengths, not weaknesses. When you combine those qualities with a strong work ethic, everything else tends to fall into place.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field today is leveraging evolving technology, including AI and automation, to create better experiences and outcomes for customers. These innovations are transforming how we communicate, analyze information, and provide support, allowing organizations to work more efficiently and make more informed decisions.
At the same time, the rapid pace of technological change presents a challenge. Organizations must continuously adapt, learn new tools, and navigate changing customer expectations. While technology can streamline processes and improve efficiencies, it is important to ensure it enhances rather than replaces the human connection.
In Customer Success, relationships remain at the heart of everything we do. Trust, empathy, communication, and authentic partnerships continue to be the differentiators that drive long-term success. As our industry evolves, I believe the greatest opportunity lies in combining the power of technology with the personal skills that foster meaningful connections. Those who can embrace innovation while keeping people at the center of the experience will be best positioned to make a lasting impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me both personally and professionally are hard work, consistency, resilience, and kindness. I believe that success is built through showing up every day, giving your best effort, and staying committed even when challenges arise. Consistency creates trust, and trust is the foundation of strong relationships, both in business and in life.
I also believe in leading with a good heart. Treating people with respect, empathy, and authenticity has helped me build meaningful relationships and navigate difficult situations with compassion. No matter the role or responsibility, I strive to make a positive impact on the people around me.
Another value that is important to me is learning from failure. Some of the greatest lessons and opportunities for growth come from setbacks. Rather than viewing failures as obstacles, I try to turn them into teachable moments that help me improve, adapt, and become more resilient.
Finally, I've learned the importance of setting healthy boundaries and being comfortable saying "no" when necessary. Early in my career, I often felt compelled to say yes to everything, but I've come to understand that a thoughtful and healthy "no" allows me to be more effective, present, and supportive to others. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish; it's essential to showing up as your best self for your family, colleagues, customers, and community.
Together, these values have shaped who I am and continue to guide the way I lead, serve others, and approach both work and life.
