About Elena

She is a visionary nonprofit leader and accomplished fundraiser with over two decades of experience in strategic development, executive leadership, and mission-driven philanthropy, currently serving as President and CEO of The Glaucoma Foundation. In this role, she leads the organization's mission to eradicate blindness from glaucoma through vital research, collaboration, and education, serving the 80 million people worldwide affected by the disease. Prior to this role, she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Phoenix House, the nation's leading nonprofit provider of alcohol and drug abuse treatment and prevention services, where she leveraged organizational strengths to increase philanthropic revenue. She also spent over 13 years as Executive Director of The City College Fund, where she was responsible for all aspects of the independent nonprofit with a staff of 14, specializing in major gifts and fundraising strategy. Earlier in her career, she served as Assistant Director of Grassroots Development at The Jewish Theological Seminary. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brooklyn College.
