Elenie Perry, SA-C, CST, B.S., A.A.S., is a Certified Surgical Assistant at OSF HealthCare with a strong academic foundation, including a Bachelor of Science and a post-baccalaureate degree in Surgical Technology. Known for being organized, driven, and goal-oriented, Elenie brings a collaborative mindset to every clinical setting and values contributing to high-performing surgical teams that prioritize patient safety and excellence.

With experience across a wide range of surgical specialties, Elenie has developed advanced skills in robotic surgery, including general, colorectal, gynecologic, and urologic procedures, as well as laparoscopic single-site surgery for gynecology. During her time within the Spectrum/Corewell Health system, she played a key role in the development of an outpatient orthopedic total joints program, helping ensure teams were properly equipped and prepared to support expanded surgical services.

Elenie thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and is motivated by opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my strong foundation in healthcare and surgical assisting, supported by a rigorous educational journey and hands-on clinical experience. My roles as a surgical assistant—including helping establish an outpatient surgery center—have strengthened my skills, adaptability, and commitment to excellence in patient care.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to always remember that I am my patient’s advocate and my surgeon’s right hand. Anticipating needs and providing the right tools at the right moment ensures the surgeon can stay fully focused on the procedure and the patient’s safety.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering this industry to always be willing to learn. Staying curious, open to feedback, and committed to continuous growth will build confidence, strengthen skills, and create lasting opportunities for success.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are dedication to patient care and balance with family. In my current role assisting with laparoscopic surgeries, I value precision, teamwork, and accountability, while outside of work I prioritize spending quality time with my husband and children—especially enjoying time together outdoors.
