Her Interview
Ten minutes with Elisa
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success is rooted in the strong foundation and values instilled in me through my upbringing, which motivated me to work hard, persevere, and pursue excellence. As the first person in my family to graduate from college and the only one to earn a doctorate, I am proud to have created a path of achievement that inspires and encourages younger generations of my family to pursue their own goals and believe in their potential.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to not hold back and take action. I have learned that failure is not a setback but an opportunity for growth and progress. Waiting until everything feels perfect or until I am completely ready can prevent me from moving forward, so I believe in embracing challenges, learning from experiences, and taking the first step toward new opportunities.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to take initiative and pursue their goals with confidence. Whatever vision or idea you have, take the time to research, understand the industry, and learn the skills necessary to succeed. Stay committed to continuous growth, strive for excellence, and always challenge yourself to be the best version of yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field include the complexities of entrepreneurship, limited support from expected sources, economic uncertainty, and the ongoing impact of disruptions such as COVID-19, which significantly affected government contracting opportunities. These challenges have required adaptability, resilience, and the ability to continuously pivot, identify new opportunities, and develop innovative approaches to sustain growth and success.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in my work are connection, purpose, and the ability to make a meaningful impact. I value being part of something greater than myself, having a voice that contributes to positive change, and creating solutions that benefit others. In my personal life, family is at the center of my values. I believe in the importance of love, support, and looking out for one another through every stage of life.
