About Elisa
Elisa Roche is an actress and writer with a career spanning decades in theatre, film, and performance arts. She joined the Actors Guild in 1977 after studying pre-med and then graduating in theater. Roche creates, performs, and produces original work, including one-woman shows and short films such as The Park Bench, which earned awards. She also writes poems and stories, and has taught art and drama in schools and to seniors in Spanish Harlem through Union Settlement. As a patient advocate, she supports others through Memorial Sloan Kettering and the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, participates in Onco Ballet, and sings in the choir at Trinity Church.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do what you love to do from inside, where your ideas and thoughts come from. Not to think about being a star or getting money because that rarely comes. If you really love something and want to do it, you'll find ways to do it in a way that's meaningful for you.
