Her Interview
Ten minutes with Elise
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my drive, ethnic background as a Mexican-American bilingual recruiter, and being a young mom balancing work and family. These aspects keep me going each day despite challenges.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Keep going. Keep moving forward. Even on some of the darkest days, or the days that aren't the happiest. Just keep moving forward one step at a time.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have a positive attitude and know that anything is teachable. Come into it each day wanting to learn and open to new ideas. These are key to being successful not just in recruiting but in any field.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is recruiting candidates in remote areas who may lack hospitality experience but possess customer service skills, motivation, and timekeeping. We can teach systems and tools but not the core customer service and ethical attitude.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Balance and the ability to multitask are key. Having a vision for each day matters, even if not everything gets checked off the to-do list. Ultimately, what is most important is that my kids are happy, healthy, and smiling.
