Her Story
About Eliza
I have a very diverse background. I was a heroin addict until I got pregnant, went into rehab and changed my life. Started in telemarketing at 18, worked in inside sales and business development for large commercial cleaning companies for about 15 years. Had a family emergency and worked at Cumberland Farms for three years supporting my family on low income. Then returned to sales but chose the pool and spa industry about 5 years ago due to high demand and opportunity. I now run the retail store and back office for a pool and spa company, becoming the face of the company. I'm making the most money I've ever made.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Eliza
01What do you attribute your success to?
My hard work and effort. Not giving up.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Try different things. You don't have to absolutely pick what you want to do. If you decide you want to try something and you don't like it, you can always try something different. You don't have to be locked in the life to a position that you're miserable at. There's always a better opportunity, and someone who will appreciate you more.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges: high demand but not enough qualified people to take care of the pools. Opportunities: lots of education offered through conventions and training in the field.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, just being real. I am a unique customer service personality because I don't bullshit people but at the same time for that reason they keep coming back to me because they trust me.
