About Elizabeth

My typical day involves screening candidates, reviewing resumes, and connecting with hiring managers to see how I can help them identify the ideal candidate and fill their vacancies based on business necessities. There's a lot of customer service and heavy interaction involved. I work to facilitate the recruitment process for hiring managers because sometimes they may hear human resources and that's the last person they want to speak with. However, in creating this partnership, we help one another. It's about understanding the field that they're in, because they're the subject matter expert in their area, and I'm the subject matter expert as a recruiter in finding the quality candidate that they're seeking. Of course, there are also a lot of meetings. What I find most valuable is that the different companies I've worked for have given me different perspectives of each field, which has helped me be successful in my current role as a recruiter. I'm able to connect with a variety of managers and candidates to help them transition into the University of Miami. Sometimes hiring managers may not know that I worked previously in property management, that I know exactly what it looks like to unclog a toilet, break through a wall, or how to identify mold. Being able to speak to managers and relate to them in the certain departments that I support has been a great tool. I'm also able to connect with a different variety of professionals. I don't have a nursing background, but being able to support the nursing team and staff their positions, and knowing how critical it is to patient care, has been a success. Knowing that I'm a part of the success of this institution is very meaningful to me.
