Elizabeth Brushia: Your past doesn't define you and life's short, so. Take the moments.

What does being an Influential Woman mean to you?

Elizabeth Brushia: I could honestly say that it's quite an honor to actually. Have the opportunity to think for a moment that I could be an influential woman, If you look at me You wouldn't see the image. And that's the problem. So don't judge a book by its cover, I guess. But it's also understanding that you have to find self love and to know what you stand for. And women are so strong but we fall to the shame, blame, ridicule, and we beat ourselves up, as we just try to defend ourselves rather than actually seeing what we could provide, so the shield, the shelter, the strength, the love, the grace, the compassion. The ability to understand joy for another's success. That's what we're here to do is to create the bonds to lift, so I was labeled as autistic. Discovering that autism actually is a very broad spectrum, so... It's the high end, there is, everyone's on the spectrum and everyone's exactly where they're supposed to be, everyone has a gift, it's helping them discover what it is to flourish, not putting labels on each other. Finding self love. It, it, it's not easy. It, it's painful. It's going to the core of any consumption of anger that you have to let go. Your past doesn't define you and life's short, so. Take the moments. Give yourself grace. Taking care of yourself is not selfish, it's necessary. You cannot love another without self love. It took 3 years for me to discover this. With over 300 poems. Through what should have been death so I'm a living miracle, absolutely a living testimony. I've written 3 books. Broke it down by poetry. Just wanting to be heard, and I think that's what we all want to be heard and understood. And when you feel that, then you feel peace and you find what prosperity of living actually is and. I could laugh at how far I would go to actually discover a purpose of living and now I'm ready to live. I'm ready to laugh. I'm ready to be sporadic myself because you don't like me, sorry, it's me. I'm sporadic and impulsive and you know, I accept it so. Do you? Thank you.

What's one piece of advice you would give to younger women chasing their dreams?

Elizabeth Brushia: First of all, if you have a dream you're chasing, then wonderful. Second of all, if you don't, then it's OK. It will come, so it's in the moment, to understand your value and do not give that away. So don't prove yourself because you feel you need somebody, or that you can't do it because nothing is impossible. Stay strong and find yourself. While you can so you don't have to learn way later in life when it's already halfway gone. And you could flourish a lot sooner. So Being proud of yourself, cause you will obtain it.

Her Story

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth Brushia spent 25 years working as a hairdresser before a life-changing intestinal tear five years ago prompted a profound shift in her perspective and career path. Following this experience, she authored the book My Perfect Storm detailing the events and her subsequent search for truth, along with two additional poetry books comprising over 300 poems that explore themes from various religions and personal growth. She also pursued her passion for antiques, opening a store in honor of her late partner and later developing a mismatched china rental service for weddings from her extensive collection of fine pieces including Limoges, Bavarians, and Royal Dalton. In addition to her writing and business ventures, Brushia has volunteered her time at a nursing home styling elders' hair and makes personal donations to support a boy in Uganda, reflecting her commitment to humanitarian efforts and helping others discover their own gifts without the hindrance of labels.
